Pilates Teacher Training

So you want to become a Classical Pilates Teacher ... Great!

We recognize there is a demand for qualified teachers and believe that the best way to learn Pilates is in a studio environment that provides real life, hands-on education by a qualified Teacher Trainer, hence at Spark all seminars are done in person, not virtually.

Spark Pilates is a proud partner and host studio of Authentic Pilates Canada (APC), offering the APC +600hr Apprenticeship Education and/or Bridge Program. All classes will be led by Cara Hazelton and apprentices will need to attend in-studio seminars at Spark Pilates, and if needed may continue to access the studio to fulfill the requirements of their apprenticeship at an additional fee.

What Our Clients Say

  • “I’ve been going to Spark for more than 2 years now with Dervola and Halyna. I was able to learn a deeper and more holistic form of pilates, the classical method, which I didn’t have the chance to during the 10 years prior practicing “pilates”. Going to them on a weekly basis helped relieve my brain fog, migraines, inflammation, back pain, other long covid symptoms and postural misalignments. I am grateful they exist! They are both skilled architects of functional and therapeutic bodyworks :) highly recommend!”

    Sandy T.

  • “I’ve had an incredible experience at this Pilates studio! Dervola, my one-on-one teacher, is fantastic!! Her guidance has significantly strengthened me, even through injuries! The other teachers I’ve worked with are equally skilled and passionate. The studio is very welcoming atmosphere that puts you in the perfect Zen state for a great workout. Highly recommend!”

    Aaron O.

  • “I just took my first ever pilates class and I would say I couldn’t have taken it from anyone better than Dervola the owner herself. She is very educated about the history of pilates and is very passionate about teaching her clients the philosophy of pilates and how to apply it to your everyday life. She was super friendly and warm, and made getting into the art super fun and interesting! I totally recommend coming here whether your a newbie like me or a pilates warrior.”

Core Principles of Pilates

CENTERING

Consciously bring physical focus to the core of the body also known as the torso “powerhouse” from which all energy for exercise is derived

PRECISION

poes-1.png

Become more aware and present so as to execute each exercise with deliberate movement which is more important than completing more repetitions with sloppier form

CONCENTRATION

By promoting the mind-body connection, you gain optimal physical value from each movement through total commitment to the exercise as well as enhancing your body awareness

BREATHING

pose6.png

Learning to breathe correctly is the most integral part of exercise, as deep and controlled breathing activates blood circulation and invigorates your muscles

CONTROL

pose2.png

Based on mindfulness, each motion is deliberate, proper, safe and in complete control of the muscle leaving no part of the body unattended

FLOW

The energy of an exercise connects all body parts through continuous, smooth, and fluid movement as you transition from one pose to another increasing both strength and stamina
